Discovering Bulacan

Disenyo Pandi

In Pandi, Bulacan, a cooperative of 140 magbuburda (embroiderers) won the 2008 outstanding One Town One product (OTOP) award in the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) category in Central Luzon.

After winning the OTOP provincial awards in 2006 and hailed best in entrepreneurship by the Go Negosyo in 2007, Multi-Pupose Cooperative (BBMPC) topped the regional business tilt for the first time.

Because of its financial viability and excellence in the craft6, BBMPC earned the nod of the jury.

All the BMMPC products go by the brand name Disenyo Pandi, which holds the intellectual property rights to the brand, registered and introduced in 2007.

BBMPC members operate their stalls in Bagong Barrio in Tutuban, Binondo or in Ilaya, Divisorya.

Amana Waterpark (Pandi, Bulacan)

Summer is that time of year to enjoy the outdoors. Some prefer the beach likeBoracay, Pagudpud or Anilao. Some prefer mountain climbing, like in Mt. Pulag. Others, especially those with kids, prefer to cool down in water theme parks like Splash Island. Those who are near Bagong Barrio, Pandi, Bulacan, have a new destination — the Amana Waterpark.

The Amana Waterpark boasts of having the biggest wavepool in the entire Philippines. It probably has a bit larger wavepool than that of Splash Island, although it can’t seriously challenge Splash Island when it comes to the variety of water slides and rides (as of now, Amana has a wavepool and a kiddie pool). Still, if you’re within the vicinity, a wavepool would really be enough to entertain the kids this summer. A swimming pool, by itself, would do the trick. A wavepool would definitely be better. (If anyone knows why they say “13 waves” to describe Amana, do tell us. I don’t know if that has something with the more established resort also in Bulacan: 8 Waves Waterpark in San Rafael.)

More importantly (for the budget-conscious, at least), Amana allows food and drinks to be brought inside (we received a subsequent clarification from Amana that only food andwater is allowed). Alcoholic drinks are not allowed, and so are containers that are made of glass (also, as normally required in swimming pools, come ready with the proper swimming gear).

Amana opened its gates last month, March of 2009, and it is far from complete. There’s so much room for improvement for this place (let’s just leave it at that), though I didn’t mind the narrow, not-so-smooth road going to the resort — I always consider the journey part of the adventure in going places.

How much? Entrance fee (day swimming) is P250 for adults, and P200 for children (4 feet and below) and senior citizens. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. Entrance fee (night swimming, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) is P120 for adults and P80 for children and senior citizens. Some cottages, on the other hand, have the following basic rates: 8 persons – P600; 10 persons – P800; 30 persons – P1,500.

How to go there? Now that you know how much it costs, let’s talk about how to get there. From Metro Manila, take the North Luzon Expressway (NLE)and go to Sta. Maria through the NLE’s Bocaue Exit (turn right after the exit ramp). Upon hitting a fork in the road (with PTT gas station at the middle of that fork), take the road going left. Then you’ll see the newly-opened Walter Mart. Turn left at the WalterMart intersection. After that, it’s a series of right/left turns, so just follow the streamers/directions along the way. If that fails, ask for directions: Bagong Barrio, Pandi, Bulacan. That’s where Amana Waterpark is found.

Pandi, Bulacan

It is on this site where the bloodiest revolution in Bulacan took place where more than 3,000 Katipunero revolutionaries died. Likewise, it is on this site where the Republic of Real de Kakarong de Sili of 1896 was established.

We are proud to say that we are the first ever TV show feature the this Historical Shrine in Bulacan

ZOOBIC SAFARI ADVENTURE IN SUBIC

EXPERIENCE THE EXOTIC ANIMALS OF ASIA

Zoobic Safari is a 25 hectare amusement park presenting a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you and your family. Enjoy exotic animals roaming and frolicking in their natural habitat and surroundings of individual planes and native grasslands. This very-well may be the most real thing to a wild animal jungle safari around.

TIGER SAFARI

Do you want to go on an tiger safari without leaving the country? Now you can treat your family to the excitement of full-sized Siberian tigers roaming about your vehicle. Riding along with you are safari guides who will give you an idea of the power and ferociousness of these animals as they feed them just inches from your face. See the amazingly-long and sharp tiger-canine teeth so close to you that you actually feel the fear and excitement of these ferocious hunters. Thrill as a 400 pound tiger easily jumps on top of your safari vehicle while he eats a whole chicken.

The Clark Subic Marketing team was treated to an unexpected surprise. After our safari, when the time came for us to exit the park, it seemed as though one of the tigers was still hungry and decided to follow us to the main gate. This guy wouldn’t allow our driver to exit the gate. The safari vehicle driver attempted to loose him with evasive maneuvers, only to be outsmarted as he continued to stalk us, cut us off and actually run alongside the vehicle; great fun! Finally, the driver managed to shake our still-hungry giant feline as we made our exit from the secure safari area. This experience was one that will not be forgotten for years to come.Tiger Adventure at Zoobic Safari is and Exciting Experience. See Tigers being Fed Up-Close
